Feeling stuck in the directives or materials you “always” use? Come together with Briana Colton, MA, ATC-BC, LPCC and Nikki Kutil, MS, ATR-BC, LPCC to explore materials through intentional play for increasing creativity within your sessions. Through integrated use of the Expressive Therapies Continuum, we will explore how different art materials serve therapeutic progress for children (6-12), adolescents (12-17), young adult (18-35), and adults (35-65). Discussion of ethical and multicultural considerations for the use of materials, space, and themes in art therapy practice will occur through case studies and participant sharing.
By the end of this event you will be able to:
• Define key concepts of the Expressive Therapies Continuum and explore its application to art therapy practice.
• Identify effective art materials for four diverse stages of life through engagement in hands-on experiential activities.
• Explore related ethical issues from various vantage points within the field, and how to apply ATCB Code of Ethics to address those issues.
